Over the past four months, many of us have been working hard to bring Blakeman Transportation into the modern Web 2.0 era. While as of four months ago, we did have an online presence, it was fairly outdated. Since then, not only have we redesigned the website, which will see soon enough, but we have also added social networking into the mix. You can find us on many social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and many more.
Let’s look at some quick statistics. As of March 31, 2011, there are an estimated 6,930,055,154 people on the planet, of which 2,095,006,005 use the internet which equates to just over 30% of the world’s population 1. Now some of you may be saying, “Wow, that’s it? I thought it would be more.” One thing to keep in mind is that Web 2.0 only became an idea in January of 1999 and was not even really seen until 20032. So over the last eight years is what has really set the pace on a global scale for internet marketing. The internet penetrates 78.3% of the North American population which is a good solid reason for making your online presence as strong as you possibly can to maximize your potential for in your company 1.
What are your thoughts about having a solid position on the internet? Will/Does it benefit your company or do you feel that it is just a waste of time?
